South Fraser Perimeter Road / Golden Ears Connector
Surrey – Delta, 2017
Construction of two and four lane sections of new highway between Highway 17 and Golden Ears Way.
The South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) is a new 40 km four-lane 80km/hr road along the south side of the Fraser River, running from Deltaport Way in Southwest Delta to 176th Street in Surrey. The project was a design-build by Fraser Transportation Group Constructors who subcontracted most of the work. Jacob Bros completed numerous civil prackages leading the majority of work on mechanically stabilized earth-filled retaining walls, and considerable utility installation. The Golden Ears connector joins the SFPR with the Golden Ears Bridge, a critical new Fraser River Crossing. The new road alignment runs along Daly Road from 104 Avenue to 179 Street adjacent to the CN Railway before traversing a primarily undeveloped corridor. Jacob Bros constructed approximately 2.6km of two- and four-lane sections of new highway. This required the installation of a new three-span Leoran Brook Bridge, as well as the removal and installation of preload and placement of concrete block walls in several stages. The project also included upgrades to the existing local roads and entrance to CN Railway’s Thornton Rail Yard.
