Box Canyon Hydro Electric

McNab Creek, 2016
Design-build of run-of-river hydro-electric dam.

The Box Canyon Hydro Electric project (BCHE) is a privately owned 15MW run-of-river project located on McNab Creek, 14 km northeast of Gibsons, B.C. The project consisted of 6,000 meters of fusible high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lower pressure penstock from 710mm to 1220mm, and 3,000 meters of steel penstock of 760mm to 1020mm diameter. The three concrete intake structures in this project were located on different creeks that converged into a single turbine within a pre-engineered powerhouse. McNab Creek is a remote area accessible only by water, all crews, equipment and supplies were delivered by water taxi or barge.
