About The Role:
- Permanent office based Estimating position based in South Surrey, BC.
- No remote or work from home options available.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator uses estimating software to perform quantity take offs, cost analysis, sub-trade negotiations, competitive bid management and document control. The Senior Estimator supports full-cycle, estimating activities for preparing hard bid, cost plus and design-build estimates.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares complete estimates for projects (full cycle bid process), including analyzing specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
- Assists in devising potential bid strategies for competitive tender projects, provides technical input regarding project and contract risks.
- Accurately determines scopes of work and conceptual estimates by drawing on experience, reviewing proposal specifications, drawings and attending pre-bid meetings.
- Calculates complete takeoff of scopes of work, including material quantity requirements from engineering drawings based on first principles estimating.
- Assists in review of final estimate to ensure alignment with project schedule and cost goals.
- Assists with design review options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Identifies risk issues and the order of magnitude.
- Recommends new approaches and ideas to drive continuous improvement within the Estimating department.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or combination of relevant experience and education.
- 5+ years estimating experience in the civil construction industry.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of first principles estimating methodology.
- Demonstrated experience preparing estimates for civil infrastructure including earthworks, utilities, and structural concrete estimates.
- Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software or similar; familiarity with CAD and MS Project Suite.
- Advanced knowledge of local construction materials and techniques.
- Demonstrated history of successful bid results in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.

About the Role:
The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Accounting Manager, and is responsible for independently receiving, verifying and processing a high volume of AP invoices on-time and with accuracy. The start date for this position is March 15th, 2021.
Responsibilities:
- Sorts Accounts Payable mail, files purchase orders and packing slips in physical file folders
- Matches invoices with packing slips and purchase orders
- Verifies quantities, prices and taxes on invoices for accuracy
- Stamps and codes invoices with project ID, cost and category codes
- Processes pending invoices; prints invoices and places them in sorter for matching
- Post invoices after files are returned from job site
- Distributes fuel slips, Visa receipts, expense reports and contractor timesheets to Accounts Payable supervisor
- Distributes subcontractor purchase orders and invoices to the Project Accountant
- Distributes invoices to Project Managers for approval
- Files approved invoices with supporting documentation in preparation for cheque run
- Assists with processing invoices for aggregate suppliers, cheque runs, and filing as required
- Other AP related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation (Grade 12)
- 1-3 years high volume accounts payable work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
- Construction industry experience is a strong asset
- Completion of a recognized accounting course is a strong asset
- Accounts payable knowledge and demonstrated accuracy
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar software is a major asset
- General math skills and experience with general accounting principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering data
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment and meet tight deadlines
