Safety Consulting – Maplewood Marine Restoration

North Vancouver, BC

On-Site Safety Consulting for a Vancouver Fraser Port Authority Project

The Maplewood Marine Restoration Project, located on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, approximately two kilometres east of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, is within the shared traditional territories of the Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation.

The project, a restoration priority for the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, is part of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s Habitat Enhancement Program anticipated to enhance approximately five hectares of low-diversity marine habitat into higher-diversity marine habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife.

A portion of the marine habitat created will be used to fulfil Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s fisheries habitat offsetting requirements for the Centerm Expansion Project being constructed at the Port of Vancouver by Centennial Expansion Partners, a joint venture between Jacob Bros, Dragados Canada Inc. and Fraser River Pile and Dredge (GP) Inc.

JB Horizons LP was engaged by PPM Civil Constructors to provide on-site safety consulting, management and first aid services for the Maplewood Marine Restoration Project.

JB Horizons LP, a partnership between C&C Horizon Contracting, a Musqueam member owned company, and Jacob Bros has the primary goal of creating employment, training, and career development opportunities for Musqueam Band members.
