Whistler Mountain Square is a focal point for Whistler’s hundreds of thousands of annual visitors. It is located directly above a major underground parking structure (Lot D), which was constructed decades ago. The existing membrane system, which provides a barrier between Lot D and the outside environment, needed to be completely replaced. Jacob Bros was contracted to do this work while minimizing the impacts to visitors, residents and surrounding businesses. The work was carried out during the peak tourist season in the spring/summer months. An extensive traffic and pedestrian management program was developed and utilized to ensure the safe completion of the project, with minimal inconvenience to businesses, visitors and other stakeholders.
