Trans Mountain Expansion Project – Spread 7 Lower Mainland

Surrey, BC

Construction of Access Point from Highway 17 to Pipeline Right-of-Way for Trans Mountain Pipeline LP

The Trans Mountain Expansion Project involves the twinning of 1,150km of existing pipeline and expansion of the Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby, BC. Twinning the pipeline between Strathcona County (near Edmonton), Alberta and Burnaby, BC will increase capacity of the pipeline system from approximately 300,000 barrels per day to 890,000 barrels per day and provides Canada the option of shipping more of its oils to emerging international markets from the terminal in Burrard Inlet.

Jacob Bros partnered with the Musqueam Capital Corporation, the economic development arm of the Musqueam Indian Band on the Spread 7 Lower Mainland. The project involved site grading and preliminary civil construction works along Hwy 17 (South Fraser Perimeter Road) in Surrey to create an access point onto the Trans Mountain Pipeline right-of-way for the future installation of the pipeline. Work also included environmental and quality plans, sediment and erosion control, and excavation and disposal of 20,000m3 soil.
