Ground Improvements
Heavy Earth Moving
Site preparation and stone column installation to prepare property for new BC Hydro Substation. The work included clearing and grubbing of 17,300m2 of land and off-site disposal of approximately 35,000m3 of soil. The ground improvement work included the installation of 1,591 stone columns to a depth of 25 meters below grade. Due to the steep grades and elevation changes across the site, a 10 meter high Lock-Block retaining wall and 2 Sierrascape retaining walls were constructed to provide a level footprint for the construction of the access road and substation. Additional work included the installation of drainage pipe, ditches and final site grading.
