BC Hydro Tower Foundation
Surrey, 2012
Construction of new concrete tower foundation footings.
BC Hydro’s existing 500kV transmission lines cross the Fraser River between Surrey and Coquitlam. Both new and existing towers required new concrete foundations as part of a larger upgrade project to improve service life and system reliability. The work included excavation and pile driving for one of the new towers on the Coquitlam side of the river, as well as excavation and shotcrete shoring up to 7m deep under the existing tower on the Surrey side of the river.
